Debut essay for The Jewish Forward -- Can My Jewish Culture Survive My Intermarriage?

Can My Jewish Culture Survive My Intermarriage?

Here's my debut essay for The Forward--aka The Jewish Forward--which is published in both English and Yiddish (I wonder if my essay will be translated to Yiddish!)

Update: And here's a longer version of that same essay, republished on Medium!

Right Now, The United States is Running Concentration Camps - Jewish Perspective

Right Now, The United States is Running Concentration Camps

As a Jew, I can tell you Never Again is not just about us.

I just published this on Medium. I kept reading stories about conditions in these US concentration camps, and I needed to raise my voice. Brainstorming what else I can do. I don't want to be a bystander.

Writing is Healing for Children Too

Writing is Healing for Children Too
Your kid knows everything is not okay.
Published in Writing Heals on Medium
"She chose to wear a wig, because she lost her hair from chemo. Ellen, like her mother, had the Jewish breast cancer gene. Like her mother, she died young, leaving behind two children.
This was before gene tests, but the pattern was clear, and my own mother could only assume she was next."

Growing Up Jewish in America

I just published Growing Up Jewish in America on Medium.
This is an epic one. I wrote it right after the Tree of Life shooting, then held on to it since then, feeling emotional enough about it that I didn't want to just hit publish. I took another look at it this week, saw that top Hanukkah pic, and thought, "I've gotta get this out there now."

My newest piece for The Writing Cooperative (on Medium) is called Is My Pain Funny to You? (Maybe That's Okay.)
Just a quick piece celebrating some of my favorite Jewish radicals and reminding myself that it's okay to laugh even though life is sort of horrible.
